How these bills were chosen: VPAP analyzed all bills that passed the 2021 General Assembly on party-line or near-party line votes. It then narrowed the list to bills that got significant media coverage during the session.

How the roll-call votes were chosen: The roll-call votes shown represent the final passage in the House and Senate. In situations where the House and Senate approved identical bills, VPAP randomly selected the roll-call votes of one version.

What happened to 'missing' votes: In situations where the total number of votes is fewer than 100 in the House of Delegates or 39 in the State Senate, the difference can be explained by members who either did not vote or abstained. These details can be found by following the link to roll call votes displayed on vpap.org.
