Changes in Early Voting Method

Early in-person voting this year is comparable to the levels seen in 2020. However, mail voting is only at half the level it was during the same period in the last presidential election. Although 2020 saw record-high early voting numbers in Virginia, making direct comparisons challenging, this year’s share of ballots cast by mail is lower than any election in the past four years, including the 2023 General Assembly elections.
