Gentrification in Richmond's Church Hill
In this first of a series, VPAP maps areas of Virginia that are undergoing dynamic population and demographic shifts. In Richmond, Black residents were the overwhelming majority in neighborhoods around St. John's Church, where Patrick Henry made his famous "give me liberty or give me death" speech in 1775. An influx of more affluent white homeowners has altered the demographics of some Census blocks.
