House Fundraising: Incumbents and Challengers
Challengers to incumbents for the House of Delegates have typically started out with a fundraising disadvantage, but 2025's challengers face a larger fundraising gap than in any previous election year since at least 2001. Incumbents have raised nearly $2 million more than their challengers this year, surpassing 2021's fundraising at this point in the cycle.
Notes: Data includes reports filed as of January 15th in the year preceding a general election, including the full calendar year of fundraising (eg. 2025 candidate numbers cover fundraising from 1/1/2024 through 12/31/2024). Excludes candidates who withdrew from the election at any point. Past years are adjusted for inflation.
