Midterm Results in Senate District 9

With Democrat Jenn McClellan headed to Washington, a special election will be held in the same state senate district that elected her in 2019. The map below shows that Democrats overwhelmingly carried McClellan's senate district in the congressional midterms last November. The state Senate district falls mostly in the 4th Congressional District, but also includes 11 precincts in the 1st Congressional District.

Note: This map displays precincts that existed during the November 2022 election, and whose land area is 90% or more within SD9. There was one exception - Richmond Precinct 311 was included because the portion outside of SD9 was determined to be mostly businesses, with very few or no registered voters residing there.
