Two out of three state Senators have raised more money in the last 18 months compared to the same time four years ago. This visual looks at fundraising by the 32 Senators who have been in office since the start of the 2017 General Assembly session.
Source: Campaign finance reports filed with the Virginia Department of Elections covering the time periods of 1/1/2017 to 6/30/2018 and from 1/1/2021 to 6/30/2022. Receipt totals include Sch. A cash contributions, Sch. B in-kind contributions, and un-itemized cash donations. Amounts for 2017-18 have been adjusted for inflation.
This visual includes only those Senators who have held office since January 2017. The eight Senators who were elected after that date are shown below, along with their contribution totals for 1/1/2021 to 6/30/2022.
