Sources of Gubernatorial Funding

Source donations to the two major party candidates in seven gubernatorial elections since 1997, when the Virginia Public Access Project began tracking money in politics.

Note: VPAP created the term "Outside Groups" to define labor unions, single-interest groups and partisan organizations that do not regularly make donations in Virginia politics, but give money in chunks of $5,000 or more to Virginia gubernatorial candidates. The definition also includes Virginia groups that serve as a pass-through for money from affiliated national organizations. Some of these "outside" groups may have Virginia mailing addresses in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.
