Sources: Campaign finance disclosures filed with the Virginia Department of Elections. All dollar amounts for past cycles have been adjusted for inflation to reflect value in current dollars.

Methodology: This visual looks at the four most recent election cycles with all 140 General Assembly seats on the ballot. Amount spent includes the entire election cycle since the previous election. For the House of Delegates this is January 1st of the year before the election through December 31st of the election year. For the Virginia Senate amount raised covers January 1st three years before the election through December 31st of the election year. Dollar amounts for past cycles have been adjusted for inflation.
